Education/Training
I completed my PhD in clinical psychology at the University of South Florida, internship at the Central Texas VA, and fellowship at the Houston VAMC. In 2023, I became board certified in clinical health psychology (to learn more about board certification in clinical health psychology, click here: https://abpp.org/application-information/learn-about-specialty-boards/clinical-health/).
I have worked with hundreds of patients with chronic medical conditions, gave the keynote speech on insomnia for Missouri’s Psychological Association, and served as an expert hub team member for extension outreach psychology work. Additionally, I have supervised and trained students in treating chronic pain and insomnia. This work is incredibly important to me.
My research and clinical work evolved to focus on the link between mental and physical health. See below for a link to my scientific publications within the field:
My Approach: Evidence-Based
My approach to therapy combines scientifically backed strategies with compassion, individualization, and some trial-and-error. Different things work for different people, but I am trained in these foundational approaches that we can start with:
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Chronic Pain, other chronic illness management
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Chronic Pain
